[ well... minato did say that he wanted shuichi to text him at 3am so that's exactly what shuichi does: sending him a message at 3am. also, it's because that shuichi is sick and he can't fall asleep since he slept all day so... yeah... ]

I didn't know what to text so here's a riddle. You don't have to solve it if you don't want to, though.

Ten candles stand burning in a dining room. A strong breeze blows in through an open window and extinguishes two of them. Checking back in on the candles later, you see that one more candle has gone out. To make sure no more flames go out, you shut the window. Assuming the wind doesn't extinguish any more candles, how many candles do you have left in the end?

[Special delivery for Minato! A medium sized parcel will be left by his door. Upon opening it, Minato will be greeted with a large wind-up toy alligator, its mouth held open by a large hamster ball. Stuffed inside the hamster ball is a wool hat in the shape of a hamster face, but that's not all. The hat is actually wrapped around yet another item: a chest with a small card resting inside.]

[ This is just too elaborate—there's simply no way he would leave this special gift be. Of course Minato dares to get the jellybeans even if he's going to regret it.

[ Left in front of Minato's house is a small gift from Squall. Squall had this strange suspicion that Minato didn't take very good care of himself, so inside the box is a handknitted sweater. It's a dark blue like his hair and a golden harp on the sleeve. Also in the box is a coupon for a couple free meals at a junk food place. ]

[ He's going to wear it proudly until the winter ends. Free junk food coupons might be gone in a day or two, though...

What's going to stay forever is that Squall knows him so well!! Bless. ]

Christmas Gift

[ Whether Minato goes out and comes back to find it or it sits out there for some time because Midorima won't make him run on a holiday, there will be a bag of Christmas candy sitting at his doorstep in a yellow bag. It's Minato's lucky item for today, in a small bag of his lucky color.

It is decidedly unmarked, so the only way Minato's likely to figure out who it's from is if he goes to Midorima's astrologist, unfortunately... ]

[ This is the most tragic Christmas gift in the history of Christmas gifts. Minato is going to cherish this yellow bag of sweets for 5 minutes and then he'll devour them all. Because that's how Minato rolls. ]

[A package wrapped neatly in festive red and blue has been left waiting for Minato by his doorstep. There are a few things inside.

First is a scarf, folded up neatly. Doesn't seem anything special, but it does have some special emotional effect which sparkles in response to positivity. Along with the scarf, there's a maid headband. Why? Because she won't let that moment during the carnival down. Finally, there is a small bag of gun-shaped chocolate coupled with other assortments of sweets.]

Maid it in time to knit the scarf for you and add something special to it. Hope you enjoy the snacks I got for you, too! Merry Christmas!!! - LLENN

[ Thank you LLENN, you're the best. He's going to realize the emotional effect right away because the scarf is pretty, okay!! The sparkles will be gone by the time he realizes what the second gift is, not to mention that note. The sweets make them appear again, though...! ]

[ There are two boxes wrapped in blue and silver foiled snowflake giftwrap as well as a card atop the two. The first has this mashed potato, gravy, bacon, bacon, more bacon, prime rib, pulled pork and green onion sundae inside of it. The second one has a handsome folding knife inside that's just a bit larger than the average pocket knife as well as an attractive lighter inside waterproof lighter armor and finally what seems to be a Swiss Army knife. Upon closer inspection, what folds out of it are basic, starter lockpicks -- an offset diamond pick, a half-diamond pick, a ball pick, etc. Sneaky.

The card is white and embossed with a snowflake. Inside, it says:

Hope you like bacon. Some guy was selling these on the street and I can confirm it's delicious.

As for the rest? Don't do anything I wouldn't do. It's signed JV. ]

[ Bless you, Jill. The sundae definitely played the key role in the post-Christmas food coma. And later on he'll have fun with the other gifts, especially the lockpicks...'tis the season to be sneaky. ]

Belated Holiday Present

[During the holiday month, Minato will find an envelope left delivered to him by a wyvern. The wyvern will only leave once the package is taken out of its mouth (don't worry it's got something to protect against slobber).

Inside he will find a 20x24 canvas which has been turned into a drawn portrait of him with a few splashes of color scattered across it. Maybe because as a teasing joke, Minato is drawn sleeping-beauty style in a bed of flowers.

There's a small note inside.

[ It's been a couple of weeks since the radio show DJ Cookie and Diamond Sunshine in the Moooorning had begun to air all over Verens. Weiss and Ruby have created a fanbase, but thankfully, they aren't as crazy as how it is in other societies with idols.

The unintended transmission begins a few minutes after Weiss and Ruby split up after doing a show. She's not very happy with how she sounded over the radio today, so she talks to herself and thinks of ways to improve her delivery of certain things. And so, the voice transmission goes: ]

"Goooood morning, Verens! My name is Diamond Sunshine—" Ugh, no... that seems too happy. How about. . . "Good morning. My name is Diamond Sunshine— AND I SOUND LIKE A ROBOT."

Good morning. I'm Diamond Sunshine, the gem who will brighten up your morning— Oh 🎵 That's really clever. I like that. Or maybe it sounds lame?

I'm the enormous and brilliantly sparkling Diamond Sunshine, here to brighten up your day. Good morning! THAT'S EVEN WORSE. This is stupid. Whatever, I don't need pretty words to make people think I look good.

[ Wherever she is, she rolls her eyes. The person receiving her thoughts will be able to tell that she's rolling her eyes too just from how dry the end of the transmission feels. ]

[ Minato happened to listen to their radio show despite it being in the morning which can only mean one thing—he's truly enjoying it. Today he's feeling like pretending that Diamond Sunshine isn't Weiss...at least for now. ]

If it isn't one of my favorite DJs, Diamond Sunshine. [ He even learned how to spell it correctly!! ] Is this a private connection? I'm a fan. I think "the gem who will brighten up your morning" sounded really nice. Elegant, even.

[ it's a little after midnight when shuichi sends this audio transmission. he has only recently found out that maki has gone back "home" and that has left him with such dread and terrible feelings in the pit of his stomach. she went back "home", back to that murdergame, and he just... he feels awful... but he can't even imagine how minato would be feeling. it's hard to be attached to someone and then have them suddenly disappear, to go back to a completely different world and, god, does minato even know about the murdergame? shuichi doesn't know... ]
